Today's photo was one that I took whilst we explored the Santa Maria area of Funchal, part of it's Zona Velho ("Old Town") and there will be more from this area in future posts, I want to mix things up a bit. Rua Santa Maria is a street that starts at the top of a hill and cascades down to the cable car in the heart of the city. It's famous for it's brightly painted buildings and street art. There are numerous restaurants along this street and on this particular morning, the light and shadow captivated my imagination, there were photographic ideas leaping at me from various angles.
I know you’ll love this one, as we’ve been talking about shadows in photography recently. I like to seek out images like this, where this a bit of a play between light and shadow (and indeed refracted light). The little Ricoh is fantastic at this.Comments
